The Importance of Food In Indian Festivals
Right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari during the time of festivals there is a wide range of food items prepared across India. Many popular dishes that are prepared in entire India such as gajar ka Halwa, Suji ka Halwa, or Atte ka Halwa are prepared during Sankranthi.
Dussehra
Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashmi, this festival celebrates the victory of good over evil. The families get together on this day and some great and authentic food is prepared. Sweet lassi, which is made out of yogurt, water, crushed almonds, and sugar, is one of the favorite drinks in India. Carrot Halwa, Jeera Rice, Paneer Tikka Masala, and many other foods are cooked during this festival. Sweet dishes such as Jalebi in Gujarat, Kadakani in Maharashtra. While Kheer, besan ladoo, and gajar ka halwa are prepared in many parts of northern India, payasam, eriyappa, and appams are made in south India. Badam Halwa Jaggery Rasgulla, Mawa Coconut Roll, Motichoor Ladoo with Rabri are some of the most famous sweet dishes that are made throughout India during Dussehra.
Diwali
Diwali, the festival of lights is celebrated globally that represents knowledge over ignorance, light over darkness, and good over evil. Diwali is well known for its many excellent sweet dishes and products.
