Pootharekulu is a combination of two words - pootha meaning coating and rekulu meaning sheets. As the name suggests, Pootharekulu is made from stacking and rolling thin sweet sheets. A wafer like sweet, Pootharekulu was initially served to the royalty, but then the common folks also got to eat Pootharekulu during festivals.
