After a 16-year stay in the US, in 2008, Poornima Mital moved back to India. With her only son leaving for college, she pondered on ideas to keep herself busy. She remembered the time when her aunts brought traditional sweets whenever they visited the States. Longing for them, she did not find too many options to order them online. The germ of an idea was born, that led her to build a platform to enrol sellers from all across India. She pitched the idea to her husband, Niraj Mital and together, they launched Mirchi.com in late 2018.
